Our Exec Team
Hi there! I'm in my fourth year, majoring in Physiology. I am one of the Co-Presidents this year with Jennifer, in charge of running this club with our wonderful exec team. I joined SRI as VP Events last year because I found this club to be a very helpful and reliable source of information related to internship and research. I hope you find our club an interesting and useful guide towards your future career!
My name is HanChen Wang from Vancouver, B.C. I'm currently a fourth year (U3) student in Interdepartmental Honours of Immunology (IHI) program. I am the co-president for this wonderful club this year! I joined this club because it helped me greatly in finding my first research position during my second year. Fun facts about me: I love basketball! Love Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers! I love watching TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, and more.
I joined SRI because of my passion for research, and also because I know the difficulty of finding a first position in anything! It’s hard getting your first internship, part time, or full time, which is why I wanted to participate in an organization that aimed to help others in their quest for an amazing research position since research itself is so interesting. I hope to see a whole ton of you at our upcoming events! Fun Fact: I’m really bad at writing short blurbs (especially about myself)!
Hey ho! This is my second year working with SRI, and my third year at McGill. I'm super excited to be VP Events for the school year. As someone who struggled with finding a research position at a big school like McGill, I really wanted to help other students find research opportunities to make their time here easier. I think undergraduate research is such a valuable and exciting experience and I want to make that accessible to more students. Don't be scared and come out to all our events! :)
Hi! I’m a U2 student in the joint program of Physiology and Mathematics here at McGill! A variety of research topics get me super excited –from computational neuroscience to neutron stars, there is always a special corner at McGill for undergraduates to fulfill their insatiable thirst for learning! This is what SRI is for: we help students get their foot in the door! By getting involved with this club, I hope to share my passion and meet more like-minded students! Hope to see you at our events!
I am in currently in U2 Honours Chemistry – Bio-organic with a minor in Neuroscience. I am from New Jersey and have always had a passion for research. I joined SRI because I want to help students like myself want to get involved in research at McGill. With the help of this club and the events they host, I got involved in a chemistry lab in my first year. Come to our events if you want to learn more about SRI and how to get involved in research at McGill!
Hello! I joined SRI because I think that research is a critical component of undergraduate student life and everyone should experience it at least once. My other interests apart from research include carnatic music, singing in choir, reading anything and everything, social justice, parallel bollywood cinema, yoga.
Hi! I'm in U1 Microbiology & Immunology, in part because I have a love and great appreciation for research! A bit about me: I'm half-Italian-half-Indian, from Toronto, and laugh a little too easily at bad jokes. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for SRI and how we can help you to get more involved in research! Also, if you have any ideas for events you'd like us to host, please email SRI or one of the VP Events directly and we'll see what we can do! Excited to see you all around!
Chris is a U2 arts student, completing an Honours Degree in Political Science. Passionate about the social sciences, Chris is SRI’s first Arts Coordinator, and will work to extend SRI’s network of services to McGill’s largest faculty. He is currently completing his own research project, reflecting on his time working as an intern for Global Affairs Canada. He also works as a staff writer for the McGill International Review (MIR).
Hi, I'm from Vancouver, B.C and U2 majoring in B.Sc Psychology! Attending McGill, a prestigious research oriented university was a big decision which has broadened my intellectual perspectives and my interest in research fields. As an undergrad, finding a research position can be intimidating and challenging. But as an VP event of SRI exec team, I'm here to help enhance your research experience and provide valuable resources to guide you. Hope to see you guys at our events :)
Hello! My name is Victor Tong and I am from Calgary, Alberta. I am currently a U1 student in biochemistry. I joined the club because research is something I am very passionate about and I hope to be able to help other undergraduate students get involved in research. As VP Publicity, I will ensure that all events hosted by SRI are made assessable to everyone who is interested. In addition to research, I enjoy playing badminton, playing guitar, and (a little) coding.
Hi! I’m a U2 Anatomy and Cell Biology student and ever since SRI helped me get my first research position, I have wanted to help other students get involved in the opportunities at McGill. Professors are interested in educating and collaborating with bright young minds like YOU, so edit your CV, read some abstracts, and don’t be afraid of hearing no’s: you only need one yes! The worst case scenario is that you’ll be back where you are now: not doing student research.
