General Academic Research

Academic research focuses on answering fundamental questions of biological and human processes. As a researcher, you will be expected to complete long-term projects for a chance towards publication.

Research positions are often with universities; many faculty members will have labs in their department. Another option would be to work at a research institution such as the IRCM or the IRIC; these institutes are often also affiliated with nearby universities.

Undergraduate researchers often receive a modest stipend for most summer research internships. Following undergrad, the next step towards becoming a researcher would be to complete graduate school.

Full-time researchers are expected to hold a Ph.D. in their field of interest. However, for the purpose of this event, we will be considering all applicants as undergraduate students.
